Silver Plating

Silver is a white semi-precious metal. It is not considered a precious metal because it readily tarnishes. Nevertheless, silver plating has unique properties, making it extremely valuable for many industrial applications. Silver plating is an excellent corrosion resistant coating and can be deposited onto aluminum, bronze, copper, steel and stainless steel alloys. Silver is highly conductive and solderable and is often plated onto electrical and electronic components. Moreover, silver plating is used extensively in the aerospace industry for applications on aircraft gas turbine engine components. Silver offers excellent high-temperature lubricity making it a superior coating for anti-galling and antiseizing applications on bearing surfaces, bolts, fasteners, gears, and nuts exposed to service temperatures up to 1200°F.
